Mission Statement

The NEA Science Caucus promotes quality science education and advocates for science educators and academic freedom.

Stem Education

Robert Hoffmann, a member of the CTE Caucus, offers the following as a framework to understanding where arts and other subjects fit into STEM education.

2018 NEA-RA Science Priorities
  • Check back here to get more information about NBIs and other important matters related to science and science education.

  • Rewrite NEA Resolution B55 on Science Education and B56 on Environmental Education.

  • Create NBIs, Standing Rules, and Legislative Amendments defending science education in public schools and in our union hall.

  • Continue to grow caucus influence and visibility by finding new partnerships and exhibitors and

    speakers (National Science Teachers Association, National Association of Biology Teachers,

    American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Chemical Society etc.)

  • Help educate members about our struggle to maintain inquiry labs. Need funding for our classes for lab materials, resources.

  • It's STEM not STEAM

  • Address the move to “virtualization” of science, as in FL.

  • Address student health concerns by encouraging science based medicine.
